In a significant initiative aimed at promoting women-led agri-entrepreneurship, value addition, and rural livelihood opportunities, All India Coordinated Research Project Women in agriculture(AICRP-WIA) along with the Punjab Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (PAMETI), Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Punjab, is organizing the “Women in Agriculture – Punjab Conclave” on 16 March 2026 at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana.
The conclave will bring together women farmers, self-help groups, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and agricultural experts from across Punjab to celebrate the growing role of women in transforming the agricultural landscape of the state. The conclave aims to recognize these contributions while creating opportunities for women to move beyond traditional roles into entrepreneurship, value addition, and market-oriented agriculture.
A major highlight of the event will be the launch of BIBAZ’ HAAT, a special marketplace dedicated to women-produced agricultural and value-added products. The platform will showcase a diverse range of products prepared by women farmers and rural entrepreneurs, including processed foods, natural farming products, pickles, millets, dairy-based items, mushrooms, and other value-added farm produce. It aims to create a direct-to-consumer platform, enabling women entrepreneurs to access markets, enhance product visibility, and strengthen their income opportunities. The initiative reflects the growing need to support farm-based enterprises, rural processing, and local branding of agricultural products.
The conclave will also highlight training initiatives, government schemes, and institutional support available for women farmers and agri-entrepreneurs. Experts from agricultural institutions and government departments will share insights on value addition, food processing, packaging, marketing, and financial assistance schemes available for rural enterprises.
Through interactive sessions and success stories, the event will encourage women to explore new income opportunities in agriculture and allied sectors such as mushroom cultivation, dairy value addition, natural farming, and small-scale food processing.
The Women in Agriculture – Punjab Conclave is expected to witness participation from hundreds of women farmers and entrepreneurs, making it a significant step towards promoting inclusive agricultural growth and women-led economic development in Punjab.
