The Punjab Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (PAMETI) successfully conducted a three-day specialized training programme on “Value Addition in Horticulture” from 10th to 12th February 2026 at its campus. The programme aimed to equip participants with practical knowledge and entrepreneurial skills in horticulture processing, branding, market linkages, and value-added product development.
The programme had technical sessions on Turmeric Value addition, Reducing Post harvest losses and vale added products like Fruit Leather, drying of vegetables, squash making, amla candy. Experts shared insights on reducing post-harvest losses, improving product presentation, and enhancing profitability through scientific processing techniques.
There was practical exposure and entrepreneurship development of participants who gained hands-on experience and practical knowledge of processing technologies that can be adopted at farm and micro-enterprise levels.
The programme concluded with a feedback and valediction session led by the Director and faculty of PAMETI.This training reinforced PAMETI’s commitment to promoting value addition, agri-entrepreneurship, and income enhancement opportunities for farmers and rural youth, especially in the horticulture sector.The initiative is expected to contribute significantly towards sustainable agriculture, reduced post-harvest losses, and increased rural livelihoods in Punjab.
