Punjab Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (PAMETI) successfully organized a three-day training programme on “Strengthening Behavioural Competencies for Extension Excellence” from April 15 to 17, 2026 at its campus, in which 16 extension officials participated.
Dr. KB Singh, Director, PAMETI explained that the programme aimed at enhancing the self-management as well as interpersonal skills of extension functionaries from agriculture and allied departments. Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Deputy Director (HRM) revealed that participants were engaged in a variety of interactive sessions including Self-awareness, Conflict management, relationship building, Attitude development, Mindfulness, and Handling difficult behaviour etc. during the three-day programme.
Renowned experts and resource persons from academia and professional fields delivered insightful lectures and facilitated experiential learning activities, making the sessions highly participatory and practical. The training emphasized that the effectiveness of extension services can be improved by focusing on behavioural aspects alongside technical knowledge. Participants actively interacted, shared field experiences, and developed strategies to improve their professional effectiveness.
The programme concluded with a valedictory session where participants expressed their appreciation for the well-structured and impactful training. Such initiatives by PAMETI continue to play a significant role in capacity building of extension personnel, ultimately contributing to improved agricultural outreach and farmer engagement.
