Punjab Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (PAMETI) organized 3 daystraining programme on “Commercial Dairy Farming”from 29-31th October 2025. In all, 25 extension officials from the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ welfare, Punjab, Department of Animal Husbandry, Department of Dairy Development, Department of Milkfed& Cooperative Department, Punjab and ATMAparticipated in the training programme.
The Deputy Director (PHT), PAMETI, Dr. Ravneet Singh, greeted the participants and explained the purpose of the training. He stated that the program’s goal is to inform and educate the officials on a variety of topics related to successful commercial dairy farming, including clean milk production, different processing methods, quality control, and the management of dairy animals’ nutrition.
The most recent technologies utilized in commercial dairy farming were covered in the training. Participants engaged with a range of experts from GADVASU, Ludhiana. In their respective sessions, Dr. Jasnit Singh talked about clean milk production and udder health. He also informed the participants about the newest technologies that can improve the final product’s value and boost profit margins and marketing opportunities. During her lecture, Dr. RamandeepKaur, a scientist from Directorate of Livestock Farms, informed trainees about the major breeds of dairy animals. Dr. NarinderChandla talked about simple processing techniques for small scale businesses. Dr. GopicaTalwar during her session taught trainees about dairy product branding, labeling, and packaging. In his session, Dr. Varinderpal Singh talked about the NABARD Schemes for Dairy Farmers, DPR, and DEDS. Dr. Venus Bansal and Dr. ManveshSihag conducted an exposure visit to the Experimental Dairy Plant, GADVASU to help participants better understand the concept of milk adulteration. They also conducted a practical on assessing the quality of milk and identifying adulterants in it. Dr. Shruti Chopra spoke about the marketing and economics of milk and milk products.
Participants interacted well with the experts and gave their positive feedback about this training programme. They emphasized that more such practical trainings should be organized in future.
